The Ideal Palace of Postman Cheval

A half-hour drive away, visit this unusual site. The Palais Idéal is a monument built in Hauterives by postman Ferdinand Cheval, from 1879 to 1912. A masterpiece of naive architecture and art, it has been listed as a historical monument since 1969.

Sanctuary of Notre Dame d'Ay

In North Ardèche, the Marian sanctuary is located in the heart of nature, perched on a promontory overlooking the Ay river.
The fresh air and serenity of the surroundings promote relaxation. The chapel, the castle, the exhibition and reception rooms allow you to discover a very interesting heritage, offering inner renewal.

CHAUVET CAVE

The Chauvet Cave houses an exceptional and unique collection of artworks, remarkable for their age, scale, and diverse pictorial qualities. There is no equivalent anywhere else in the world. They are the work of Paleolithic hunter-gatherer societies. The state of preservation of the parietal representations is exceptional. This cave, its drawings, engravings, markings, and bones have survived the ages. They constitute a unique heritage that has come down to us intact from prehistory.

Located in the south of the Ardèche, this site is worth a day trip.
